The USC Trojans defeated the Long Beach State 49'ers, 5-4. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Dusty Bonar, who was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Chris Moran earned his 14th save in 14 tries. The Trojans bumped their record to 24-14 with this latest triumph.

Bonar had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the second inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Trojans went on to win.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Bonar told the USC Bulletin. "You win just by scoring more runs."
