Texas A&M got a terrific game from third baseman Tim Cagle. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Oregon State, 5-4. Cagle was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Oregon State is now 16-21, while Texas A&M is 13-24.
The Beavers got a big at-bat from left fielder Jamie Thompson. For the game, Thompson went 1 for 5 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the 12th, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Oregon State a 5-4 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Thompson, "and today was a good one for us."
