5 Straight Wins for Gamecocks
The Florida Gators got a superb performance from designated hitter Jose Lopez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat South Carolina. The Gamecocks won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Lopez was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 6 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. South Carolina reliever Chris Terry picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Scott Scott absorbed the loss. The 10th-place Gamecocks now have a 5-game winning streak.

South Carolina won the game in the bottom of the 12th inning. With one out and Scott Scott on the mound for Florida, first baseman Corey Blades hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Gamecocks fans to their feet.

"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Blades said.
