The South Carolina Gamecocks dealt the Virginia Cavaliers a 8-4 loss at Ballpark of Redwood College. Travis Stanford was the star on offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. South Carolina has now won 4 straight.

Jim Grove was a key contributor to the win for the Gamecocks. In the top of the first with no one out, the light-hitting third baseman stroked a triple to left-center. He went 2-5 with 2 triples. He scored 2 times.
