Tigers Rally For Late Win Over Cyclones
|
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Justin Olson, the Iowa State Cyclones suffered a 8-5 loss to the Clemson Tigers. Olson was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. Clemson reliever Rich Tygart picked up the win to move to 1-2. Ryan Popek suffered the loss. Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 10-25 record.
John Schafer was the walk-off hero for Clemson. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers third baseman hit a dramatic 3-run home run to send the teams home.
"This wasn't a good win," said Schafer. "It was a great win."
