Hoene Helps 49'ers Run Win Streak to 3
|
Long Beach State first baseman Chase Hoene was a significant contributor in his team's 8-5 triumph over the South Mississippi Golden Eagles. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 4 for Long Beach State. Pat Welch, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 5 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 2-4. The save went to Ben Jeffcoat, his 2nd this season.
Hoene had a big at-bat with a runner on 1st in the bottom of the sixth inning, when he hit a 2-run home run. The 49'ers went on to win.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Hoene told the Long Beach State Times.
Long Beach State is now riding a 3-game win streak.
