Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Corey Blades, the South Carolina Gamecocks defeated the Kansas Jayhawks, 7-4. Blades went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Gamecocks. Charlie Maples closed it out for his 9th save. The 15th-place Gamecocks improved to 16-18.
Travis Stanford, who is the top prospect in the Gamecocks organization, chipped in for South Carolina with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
