Backer belts 2 home runs as Yellow Jackets Squeeze Past Georgia
Castles Ballpark was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Georgia Bulldogs.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets topped the Georgia Bulldogs, 10-9, with catcher Mike Backer playing a big role. Backer hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 4 for the Yellow Jackets in the win. The Yellow Jackets bumped their record to 20-14 with this latest triumph.

Backer had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Nick Duke, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Yellow Jackets a 10-9 lead. It was the 5th home run of the year for Backer.

"It was a nice win for our side today," said Yellow Jackets manager Reese Mitchell. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
