The Vancouver Pioneers racked up a win at "The Fort" at B.C. Place, bumping off the Oklahoma City Prowlers, 2-1. Kenko Samurakami, who started for Vancouver, pitched effectively for his team. Ekagra Manasi converted his 8th save in 8 tries. The Pioneers improve their record to 32-39 with the win over Oklahoma City.
The Pioneers got a big at-bat from left fielder Javier Santos. For the game, Santos was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Vancouver a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Vancouver manager Kojuro Ohayashi said.
