Sooners Bang Out 9-6 Win Versus Clemson
|
Oklahoma withstood an impressive performance by Clemson center fielder Trevor Miller to defeat the Tigers, 9-6, at Magistrates Ballpark. Miller was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Reliever Jason Wilkes picked up the win. His record improves to 2-1. Brian Lopez took the loss. The save was credited to Zachary Schultz, his 10th.
Had Sam Bond not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Bond hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Sooners.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Bond said.
The Sooners bumped their record to 17-14 with this latest triumph.
