49'ers Get Road Win, 5-3
|
Rice first baseman Justin Weseman had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 5-3, to Long Beach State at Toughkenamon College Fields. Weseman hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The 49'ers bumped their record to 16-14 with this latest triumph.
The 49'ers got a big at-bat from shortstop Jay Cyr. For the game, Cyr was 1-3 with a walk. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 18th hit of the season gave Long Beach State a 3-2 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cyr. "And not try to do too much."
