Vanderbilt rode a decent outing from starter Chase Thompson to victory over the North Carolina Tar Heels at Ballpark of Barrow College. The final score was 4-3. Jimmy Gregus got the save, the 10th for him this season. The Commodores bumped their record to 18-12 with this latest triumph.

Brent Biernacki, who is tied for 9th in the SBL in triples with 2, aided the Vanderbilt cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 4 with a double.

"We played hard and won," said Thompson. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
