Aggies Lose, 7-4, at Surfers Ballpark
|
The Stanford Cardinals defeated the Texas A&M Aggies, 7-4, at Surfers Ballpark. Stanford third baseman Travis Covert was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Gary Harrison picked up the save, his 2nd. With the win, Stanford goes to 13-17, while the Aggies fall to 12-18.
Had Jack Kelley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Kelley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Cardinals.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Kelley said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
