Trojans Stymie California, Take 5-1 Win
|
USC used a superb performance from starting pitcher Daniel Luna to down the California Golden Bears, 5-1. In 6.1 innings, Luna surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The Trojans bumped their record to 16-13 with this latest triumph.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the second, with the game tied, Dusty Bonar was at the plate when USC scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Trojans to go in front, 1-0.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Bonar told the USC Bulletin.
