Iowa State pitcher Alex Castillo did his part in helping his team beat the Ohio State Buckeyes, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Castillo went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-1. Earning his 7th save of the year was Nick Swanson.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from right fielder Chris Krause. For the game, Krause went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Iowa State a 4-2 lead.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Castillo told the Iowa State Bulletin.
The Cyclones bumped their record to 15-13 with this latest triumph.
