Salukis Get Road Win, 6-5
|
Tennessee got a terrific performance from second baseman Josh Miller, but it wasn't enough to beat the South Illinois Salukis. South Illinois won the Madera College Grounds contest, 6-5. Miller was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Mike Baker recorded his 5th save for South Illinois. Tennessee now has a 5-game losing streak.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the top of the fifth inning. That's when right fielder Anthony Roberts, who is tied for 9th in the SBL with a .716 slugging percentage, drew a walk. The Salukis went on to win.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Roberts told the South Illinois Daily News.
