The Oregon Ducks got a superb performance from right fielder John Marshall, but the Louisiana-Layfayette Ragin Cajuns still won the game, 4-3. Marshall was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and a walk. Louisiana-Layfayette reliever Dan Stritt picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jerry Webber was saddled with the loss. The Ragin Cajuns bumped their record to 15-10 with this latest triumph.
Matt Brooks, who is tied for 4th in the RDL with a .760 slugging percentage, chipped in for Louisiana-Layfayette with a solo home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Louisiana-Layfayette manager Gerardo Torres.
