Seminoles Reel Off Another Win
|
The Florida State Seminoles got a strong performance from pitcher Ray Appelbaum, who stymied the Tennessee offense en route to a 4-1 win at Ballpark of Riverdale College. Appelbaum, the winner, moves to 1-3. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 4 walks. Florida State has run its win streak to 6 in a row.
The Seminoles got a big at-bat from catcher Darrin Silberman. For the game, Silberman was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Florida State a 3-1 lead.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Tennessee manager Mark Ellis.
