Demon Deacans Score Late, Top Wolverines, 7-5

Wake Forest and Michigan duked it out at Siege Ballpark and the Demon Deacans came out victorious.
The Michigan Wolverines got a superb performance from shortstop Noah Smith, but the Wake Forest Demon Deacans still won the game, 7-5. Smith was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. David Shaffer earned the save for Wake Forest, his 1st.
Kevin Pietrzak aided the Wake Forest cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth. For the game, the pinch hitter drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Wake Forest manager Roberto Salas.
The Demon Deacans have an impressive 16-9 record.
