Long Beach State got a strong outing from Brian Lux as the 49'ers defeated the Houston Cougars, 8-1, at Ballpark of Macclenny College. The 49'ers bumped their record to 13-12 with this latest triumph.

The 49'ers got a big at-bat from first baseman Chase Hoene. For the game, Hoene went 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Long Beach State a 4-0 lead.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Long Beach State manager Richie Robertson.
