Vanderbilt catcher Jimmy Gavins was instrumental in his team's 9-6 win over the Oklahoma Sooners. Gavins went 2-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Commodores. Vanderbilt reliever Jason Womick picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bob Walls was saddled with the loss. The 8th-place Commodores now have a 4-game winning streak.

Dustin Stumpf, who is tied for 8th in the SBL in stolen bases with 5, aided the Vanderbilt cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth. For the game, the shortstop drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate, while scoring 2 runs.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Álex Negrón said.
