Louisiana-Layfayette starter Shawn Thompson pitched effectively against the Ole Miss Rebels at Field of the Dukes. The right-hander led his team to a 3-1 win. The Ragin Cajuns bumped their record to 14-10 with this latest triumph.

The Ragin Cajuns got a big at-bat from designated hitter Matt Brooks. For the game, Brooks went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 35th hit of the season gave Louisiana-Layfayette a 2-1 lead.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Louisiana-Layfayette manager Gerardo Torres.
