Golden Bears Score Late, Top Sun Devils, 4-3

The California Golden Bears topped the Arizona State Sun Devils, 4-3, with youngster Michael Walker playing a key role. Walker went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times for the Golden Bears in the win. California reliever Justin Madison was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Bob Clayton. California, now 10-14, holds 17th place in the Cliff Gustafson.
The Golden Bears got a big at-bat from shortstop Jason Parker. For the game, Parker was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the ninth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave California a 4-3 lead.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Arizona State manager Tim Brown.
