Ducks Win at UCLA, 8-2
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Oregon Ducks topped the UCLA Bruins, 8-2, with youngster Zachary Long playing a key role. Long went 3 for 5 with 2 home runs for the Ducks in the win. Oregon reliever Mike Russo was the winner. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Dave Gershenson. The save went to Collin Russell, his 1st this season.
Miguel Borrayo, who is tied for 3rd in the RDL in bases on balls with 23, aided the Oregon cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the third. For the game, the shortstop went 1-4 with a walk.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Oregon manager Mark Patrick.
Oregon is now riding a 3-game win streak.
