Streeter Delivers Walk-Off Win for Golden Eagles
|
A 3-RBI performance from center fielder Mat Martin, who is tied for 5th in the RDL in bases on balls with 22, led the South Mississippi Golden Eagles to a 4-3 win over the Tulane Green Wave. South Mississippi reliever Bob Chamberlain was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Dane Palmer. The Golden Eagles have now won 6 straight.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from left fielder George Streeter. For the game, Streeter went 1 for 5. In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 16th hit of the season gave South Mississippi a 4-3 lead.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Jason Metcalf.
