The LSU Tigers stymied the Rice Owls, 4-2, at Toughkenamon College Fields. Evan Engel, who had a good day at the plate, was named player of the game. He went 2 for 2 with a double and 2 walks for LSU. LSU reliever Elvis Rogers picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Steven Townsend was saddled with the loss. Earning his 2nd save of the year was John Robinson.

Jordan Earwood aided the LSU cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the third. For the game, the catcher went 1-3 with a hit by pitch.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Engel told reporters after the game.

The Tigers bumped their record to 11-11 with this latest triumph.
