Golden Eagles Topple Bulldogs with Late Rally
|
A 3-RBI performance from Dallas Fugate, who is tied for 9th in the RDL with a .726 slugging percentage, helped the South Mississippi Golden Eagles beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 9-6. Earning his 8th save of the year was Bob Chamberlain. The third-place Golden Eagles have won 4 consecutive games.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from first baseman Danny Redding. For the game, Redding went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave South Mississippi a 7-6 lead.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Redding. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
