Longhorns Solve Beavers, 3-2

Oregon State got a terrific performance from pitcher Bob Cornelsen, but it wasn't enough to beat the Texas Longhorns. Texas won the Ballpark of Celebration College contest, 3-2. Cornelsen was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 5 innings allowing 2 runs. Craig Mehlin earned his 2nd save in 2 tries. The Longhorns are now 9-12, while the Beavers fall to 9-12.
Texas third baseman Tim Flynn contributed to the cause with a single in the bottom of the third. For the game, Flynn was 2-4 with 2 singles.
Flynn called the triumph "a good team win."
