Long Beach State and California took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.

Behind a solid performance from catcher Bill Beasley, the Long Beach State 49'ers defeated the California Golden Bears, 5-2. Beasley was 2 for 3 with a home run, a triple, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the 49'ers. Getting the save was David Guyer, his 4th.

A crucial at-bat came with runners on 2nd and 3rd and two out in the top of the sixth inning. That's when first baseman Chase Hoene, who is tied for 3rd in the RDL in bases on balls with 20, drew a walk. The 49'ers went on to win.

"Winning is all that really matters and we got it done today," Beasley told the Long Beach State Times.

California has now lost 4 straight.
