Victory Over Sun Devils Takes South Mississippi to 12-8
|
South Mississippi pitcher George Fawns did his part in helping his team beat the Arizona State Sun Devils, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 6.1 innings, Fawns surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Getting the save was Bob Chamberlain, his 7th.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from first baseman Jason Bock. For the game, Bock went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. In the top of the fifth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season gave South Mississippi a 1-0 lead.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Fawns.
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 12-8 with this latest triumph.
