Thrilling Victory Pushes Tar Heels Win Streak to 5
|
The Kansas Jayhawks got a superb performance from pitcher Travis Thomason. Still, it wasn't enough to beat North Carolina. The Tar Heels won the game, 5-2. In spite of the loss, Thomason was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The Tar Heels, at 12-8, have now won 5 straight.
Brian Wheeler was the walk-off hero for North Carolina. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tar Heels second baseman hit a dramatic 3-run home run to send the teams home.
"I like our moxie," said Tar Heels manager William Wilson.
