Victory Pushes Golden Eagles Record to 10-7
|
It was a fun time at Ballpark of Storm Lake College, where the Cal State Fullerton Titans and South Mississippi Golden Eagles tangled.
The South Mississippi Golden Eagles defeated the Cal State Fullerton Titans, 6-4, at Ballpark of Storm Lake College. South Mississippi second baseman Aaron Tarter was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. South Mississippi reliever Dave Gorman picked up the win to move to 1-0. Wally Hall suffered the loss. The save was Bob Chamberlain's, his 6th.
The Golden Eagles got a big at-bat from right fielder Fernando Duran. For the game, Duran went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 20th hit of the season gave South Mississippi a 4-3 lead.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Tarter, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Golden Eagles bumped their record to 10-7 with this latest triumph.
