Cavaliers Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
Virginia Cavaliers starter Mike Gordon was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Oklahoma Sooners, 9-2. Gordon got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 2 over 5.1 innings. Gordon allowed no earned runs. Xavier Keller closed the door for Virginia, picking up his 3rd save of the year.
Brian Hawkins, who is tied for 4th in the SBL with a 1.473 OPS, aided the Virginia cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Hawkins, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
The Cavaliers, at 14-3, lead by one game in their division.
