Cavaliers Sneak Past Crimson Tide, 5-4
The Virginia-Alabama game took longer to complete because of the rain. But it was worth it for the home team in the end.

The Virginia Cavaliers defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide, 5-4, in Skip Bertman League action at Ballpark of Redwood College, with Virginia pitcher Danny Minor named player of the game. Kris Richardson, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings.

The Cavaliers got a big at-bat from left fielder Tom Sampley. For the game, Sampley was 1-1. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 1st hit of the season gave Virginia a 5-4 lead.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Sampley.

The Cavaliers have an impressive 12-3 record.
