The South Carolina Gamecocks faced a tough opponent in Georgia Tech pitcher Jim Clemons, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Scandals Ballpark by a final score of 2-1. Clemons went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Chris Terry, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. South Carolina is now 6-9, while Georgia Tech is 7-8.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Jamie Goehring came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing Georgia Tech pitcher Eric Beaton, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting South Carolina on top, 2-1.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Goehring.
