Cyclones Win at North Carolina, 8-5
The North Carolina Tar Heels got a sterling performance from third baseman Jason Leadbeater, but the Cyclones still prevailed, 8-5. Leadbeater was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Nick Swanson earned his 4th save in 4 tries. The Cyclones bumped their record to 8-7 with this latest triumph.

In the top of the 6th, left fielder Josh Summo gave Iowa State the lead when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Cyclones had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out double off North Carolina pitcher Mike Vairo changed that -- and Iowa State went on to win.

Summo expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
