Bulldogs Win at South Illinois, 9-4
|
South Illinois first baseman Salvatore Marroquin was sensational. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Georgia beat the Salukis, 9-4. Marroquin was named the player of the game despite the loss. The Bulldogs bumped their record to 7-7 with this latest triumph.
The Bulldogs got a big at-bat from second baseman Armando Gutierrez. For the game, Gutierrez was 1 for 5 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Georgia a 5-3 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Gutierrez.
