Tigers Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
The Clemson Tigers topped the Auburn Tigers, 10-2, in Skip Bertman League action at Zodiac Ballpark. The player of the game was Clemson third baseman John Schafer. Jonathan Van Horn got the win, improving to 2-1. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Jay Vaughan closed the game out for Clemson, earning his 1st save.
Early in the game, Schafer had a grand slam home run for Clemson. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Tigers on top, 4-0.
Schafer told a Clemson Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Even with the win, the Tigers have a dismal 4-10 record.
