South Illinois and Clemson duked it out at Magistrates Ballpark and the Salukis came out victorious.

Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Chris Maynard, the South Illinois Salukis defeated the Clemson Tigers, 8-6. Maynard hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for the Salukis. Mike Baker finished to wrap up his 3rd save.

The Salukis got a big at-bat from first baseman Salvatore Marroquin. For the game, Marroquin was 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the top of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 16th hit of the season gave South Illinois a 3-2 lead.

"We'll take this win and move on," said Maynard.
