Golden Bears Sneak Past Bruins, 3-2
|
UCLA got a terrific performance from pitcher Keith More, but it wasn't enough to beat the California Golden Bears. California won the Ballpark of Shiprock College contest, 3-2. More was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 6 innings of 1-hit ball. California reliever Adam Meents picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Christian McKenzie absorbed the loss. The 11th-place Golden Bears lifted their record to 6-7.
The Golden Bears got a big at-bat from center fielder Devon Hill. For the game, Hill went 1-2 with a double and a walk. In the top of the 15th, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave California a 3-2 lead.
"We were in it," said UCLA manager Rick Osmond. "We just didn't score enough runs."
