Gamecocks Lose, 12-7, at Pit Vipers Ballpark
With designated hitter Sam Ibarra leading the charge, the Indiana State Sycamores defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks, 12-7, at Pit Vipers Ballpark. Ibarra, who is tied for 6th in the SBL in home runs with 6, was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Indiana State reliever George Whittum was credited with the win, to go to 1-0. Mike Anderson took the loss for South Carolina. The Gamecocks, now 4-8, have lost 4 straight.

Josh Martin aided the Indiana State cause with a 2-run double in the bottom of the first. For the game, the first baseman went 2-4 with a triple and a double. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Martin. "And not try to do too much."
