Baker goes 3-for-4 to Pull Demon Deacans to .500

With third baseman Jim Baker leading the charge, the Wake Forest Demon Deacans defeated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, 7-3, at Castles Ballpark. Baker was 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Wake Forest starter Troy Gero was credited with the win after throwing 82 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The Demon Deacans bumped their record to 6-6 with this latest triumph.
The Demon Deacans got a big at-bat from designated hitter Casey Ickes. For the game, Ickes went 1 for 4 with a walk, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 10th hit of the season gave Wake Forest a 3-1 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ickes. "And not try to do too much."
