Golden Eagles Edge Past Cardinals, 3-2

South Mississippi and Stanford duked it out at Surfers Ballpark and the Golden Eagles came out victorious.
South Mississippi rode a good effort from starter King Caston to beat the Stanford Cardinals at Surfers Ballpark. The final score was 3-2. The win was credited to Kevin Hargrove in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Julio Uribe took the loss. Bob Chamberlain earned the save for South Mississippi, his 4th.
South Mississippi used the bat of George Streeter to get the win. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Golden Eagles ahead, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it did its damage.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Caston.
The last-place Cardinals have lost 5 consecutive games.
