Mancini Goes Wild, But Cougars Win
|
The Oregon Ducks got a superb performance from left fielder Hank Mancini. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Washington State. The Cougars won the game, 5-3. In spite of the loss, Mancini was named the player of the game. He was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs. The Cougars bumped their record to 7-4 with this latest triumph.
Sean Korby swatted a run-scoring walk for Washington State in the bottom of the third. The left fielder went 2 for 2 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.
"We take it day by day here," said Korby, "and today was a good one for us."
