Armada Lose to Bombers, 6-2
|
The South Carolina Bombers topped the Quebec Armada, 6-2, in Thurman Munson League action at Bomber Ballpark. The player of the game was South Carolina pitcher and Punta Cardón, Venezuela native Ángel Ruíz. The winning pitcher was Ruíz, now 7-3. He tossed 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Juan Manuel was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 3 save opportunities.
Jean-Claude Petit, who is tied for 10th in the TML with a .543 slugging percentage, aided the South Carolina cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.
"Ángel was throwing strikes, locating well," said South Carolina manager Randy Huggett.
The Bombers bumped their record to 37-30 with this latest triumph.
