Toughkenamon College Fields was the site of an exciting ballgame between the USC Trojans and the Rice Owls.
The USC Trojans faced a tough opponent in Rice pitcher Chris Roberts, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Toughkenamon College Fields by a final score of 5-4. Roberts went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Chris Moran recorded the save for USC, his 4th of the season.
Steve John chipped in for USC with a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth. For the game, the third baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said John.
The Trojans are now 5-6, while the Owls fall to 4-7.
