It was a good time at Prisoners Ballpark, where fans came to watch the Baylor Bears and California Golden Bears get after it.
The inspired effort of Baylor center fielder Chris Casper was not enough to prevent a 7-3 loss to the California Golden Bears. Casper was 2-3 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jayson Smith picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. David Lawal was tagged with the loss.
Brandon Russo aided the California cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the catcher was 1-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Russo said.
The Golden Bears bumped their record to 5-5 with this latest triumph.
