Wirfel goes 3-for-4 as Cougars Squeeze Past USC
The Washington State Cougars turned back the USC Trojans, 7-6, at Tribe Ballpark. Barry Wirfel was named player of the game for his fine performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Kyle Jacobs picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Dave Tressler was tagged with the loss. Washington State, now 6-3, has played well in the early going.

Wirfel was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once against the Trojans. With the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, he hit a sacrifice fly that scored 1 and put Washington State in front, 7-6.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Wirfel said.
