Cavaliers Get Road Win, 6-4
|
Jack Crosby did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Georgia Bulldogs from losing, 6-4, to the Virginia Cavaliers at Field of the Plunder. Crosby was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Cody Botelho picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Joe Bilke was tagged with the loss. Getting the save was Cesar Reyes, his 1st.
The Cavaliers got a big at-bat from second baseman Matt Mellon. For the game, Mellon was 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Virginia a 3-0 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Mellon said.
Virginia, at 8-1, is off to a blistering start.
