It was a good time at Waterfront Park, where fans came to watch the Jacksonville Jacks and Portland Beavers get after it.

The Portland Beavers topped the Jacksonville Jacks, 8-6, with catcher Ralph Blair playing a big role. Blair went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 4 runs for the Beavers in the win. Portland starter Peter McColgan was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.

The Beavers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Anuvaha Tasha. For the game, Tasha went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Portland a 6-3 lead.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Blair said.

Portland is now 33-35. Jacksonville is 26-39.
